Richmond University Case Study

We managed the brand, publication, digital strategy, website and app development for Richmond, the American International University in London for 12 years.

What we did

In 2001 Richmond, the American International University in London, commissioned Dewsign to build a promotional website for their MBA program. This project expanded into a new website design and development project for the whole institution.

Further to this Richmond asked us to manage their global brand, view books, catalogs, advertising campaigns, digital strategy and ongoing website development.

We have undertaken a number of website design refreshes and rebuilds over the last 13 years all running from our own bespoke content management system; in addition to building all manner of bespoke software applications to aid the smooth running of the institution, including payment gateways, trips management systems and a full alumni CRM.

Feedback from new students suggests that the quality of the website formed one of their core reasons for applying to the University.

Logo refinement

The original Richmond University logo was a full crest. This was considered highbrow for everyday use. We simplified it to the core shield and motto which was used on the majority of communications materials. The full crest was reserved for formal use including degree certificates. This dual device approach worked well and enabled the identity to have both everyday and formal use.

Story led illustration

Creative use of story led illustration was used over print and digital channels within a cohesive campaign. Full takeover of the Metro London website and full-page adverts were all part of the very successful campaign.

Brand implementation

University Clearing forms one of the most important activities on any higher educational establishments admissions calendar. We have undertaken the Creative Direction, design and implementation of the digital and print campaigns for Richmond for many years.

The 2013 campaign consisted of a illustrated 'journey' based approach focusing on the Richmond experience which ties into the 'Experience Richmond' creative focus of the prospectus. The illustrations were used on Print adverts in the Evening Standard, Telegraph, Metro, PPC adverts on the Metro online, Pay Per Click (PPC) Landing pages and a full take-over of the Metro Website.
