Platform Migrations
Shopify Migration Specialists With a Track Record That Speaks
Moving your ecommerce store to a new platform is one of the most consequential decisions a retail business can make. Get it right and you unlock better performance, lower running costs and a platform built for growth. Get it wrong and you risk losing years of SEO authority, customer data and revenue momentum.
Dewsign is a Shopify migration agency with over 25 years of ecommerce experience. We've migrated businesses from Magento, WooCommerce, EKM, Wix, BigCommerce, and bespoke legacy systems to Shopify and Shopify Plus. The majority of our recent projects are migrations, and we've refined our process to protect what matters most: your search rankings, your customer relationships and your trading continuity.

Our Migration Process
Every migration follows a structured process designed to minimise risk and maximise the quality of the outcome.
Here's how we work:
AI Pre-Migration Audit
Before we touch anything, we conduct a thorough AI supported audit of your current platform. This covers your product catalogue structure, customer data, order history, URL architecture, current search rankings, third-party integrations and any custom functionality. The AI audit identifies the technical complexity of the migration and surfaces potential risks before they become problems.
AI Data Migration
Product & Collection data, customer records, blog content, redirects — we migrate everything that matters to your business continuity and customer experience. For large catalogues of SKUs or more, we use our AI migration tools, which consistently outperform manual CSV imports in both speed and accuracy. For complex data structures, Matrixify App handles the heavy import / export lifting with precision.
SEO Preservation and 301 Redirect Mapping
This is where migrations go wrong most often, and it's where we invest the most care. Every URL on your current site is mapped to its equivalent on the new Shopify store. We build comprehensive 301 redirect maps that preserve your link equity and ensure search engines can find your content in its new home.
We'll be honest with you: even a perfectly executed migration typically sees a initial dip in organic traffic. This is normal and expected. The critical factor is recovery — and with proper redirect mapping, metadata preservation and post-launch monitoring, most sites recover to pre-migration levels within 4–8 weeks, with many exceeding previous performance within 3–6 months.
Theme Development and Testing
While the data migration is being prepared, we design and develop your new Shopify store in parallel. We select a proven, high-performance theme matched to your catalogue and commercial requirements, then customise it extensively — bespoke design, tailored sections, brand-specific UX — until it looks and performs like a fully bespoke build. Every page, every product template, every collection layout is tested across devices before launch.
We have built custom themes from the ground up but given the quality of some of our theme partners work and expertise, there is little reason not to work from a high quality theme as a starting point. It also saves you budget for the things that really matter.
Launch and Post-Migration Monitoring
We plan launches carefully. Timing matters — we avoid Q4 migrations because the risk to peak-season revenue is too high. The optimal migration window for most retailers is January through March, when traffic patterns are more forgiving and there's runway to resolve any post-launch issues before the next peak.
After launch, we monitor search rankings, crawl errors, redirect performance and site speed for a minimum of four weeks. Any issues are caught and addressed quickly, with rollback procedures in place for the unlikely scenario that something goes fundamentally wrong.
Migrating From Magento
Magento migrations are among the most complex we handle, and among the most rewarding - and cost saving. Magento's end-of-life for version 1 and the escalating costs of maintaining Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce are driving established retailers to Shopify in increasing numbers. The challenge lies in Magento's deeply customised architecture — custom modules, complex product configurations and database structures that don't map neatly to Shopify's data model. We've done this enough times to know where the pitfalls are and how to navigate them.

Migrating From WooCommerce
WooCommerce migrations are typically driven by reliability and scalability concerns. Plugin conflicts, security vulnerabilities, hosting headaches and the burden of managing WordPress updates push growing businesses toward Shopify's managed infrastructure. The migration path from WooCommerce is well-established, but attention to detail on URL structures, product variants and customer data mapping is essential.

Migrating From EKM
EKM served many UK retailers well for years, but its limitations become increasingly apparent as businesses grow. Limited theme customisation, restricted API access and a shrinking ecosystem of integrations make the case for migration compelling. We handle the transition with particular attention to preserving the customer relationships and order history that EKM merchants have built over time.
Migrating From Wix, BigCommerce and Legacy Platforms
Whether you're on Wix, BigCommerce, Squarespace, a bespoke PHP system or a platform we haven't mentioned, the principles are the same: protect your data, protect your SEO, and give you a better store at the end of it. We've worked with enough legacy systems over 25 years to be unfazed by unusual setups.
