Front End Developer
We're seeking a talented front end developer with a passion for web design and an eye for detail to join our online development team. You will be required to work on improving and maintaining existing sites as well as working on new templates for various projects and email campaigns.
About you
- Have 1 to 2 years professional experience
- A curiosity and excitement for new web technologies / techniques
- A strong passion for the front end as a mix of art and science
- Solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions
- Prefer writing well-formed, unobtrusive JS with scalability and extensibility in mind
- Knowledge/experience with front-end performance optimization (YSLOW standards)
- Good time management, problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills
- Ability to follow technical specifications and processes
- Previous agency experience/working with designers
Experience
- Extensive experience in hand coding, no WYSIWYG coding
- Ability to write standards compliant XHTML & CSS with thought given to accessibility and SEO
- Practical understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
- Basic Photoshop/Illustrator skills
- Experience using JS Frameworks (MooTools, jQuery, etc...)
- Excellent debugging and problem solving skills (use of Firebug)
- Experience / familiarity with integrating major 3rd party APIs (Facebook, Twitter, Google Maps, YouTube, etc...)
- Experience working with AJAX and services/ API's to serve up dynamic and data-heavy content
Desirable skills
- Experience with using source control (SVN)
- Some experience with server-side scripting (.Net, PHP, etc...)
Ideally you will have some commercial experience and motivation to develop your skillset further. You will be expected to be able to demonstrate a portfolio of previous work in the interview.
